It's Lily Time

BY SKEETER
It is June which is the month for Lily to shine in my GEORGIA GARDENS.
I use to keep all the lily together in one garden area but after a couple of years, they would become too large for anything else to be seen.
I started to dig them out and move them around a bit.
The lily did not mind being moved. In fact, they thrived and became much larger each year.
They have become so large that I am dividing the lily to make more plants.
I add new ones to my collection as I find them on the bargain bins.
Lily are so easy to grow in my gardens. They do not seem to mind the drought times or the soggy times of year.
I do not know the names of my lily.
But knowing their names is not important to me.
I enjoy their beauty and that is all that matters to me.
I wish lily would bloom all summer long.
But they do not and that is a bit depressing.
Once the blooms are gone, the foliage adds interest to the gardens.
I would have to say they are my favorite flower during the month of June.
Look at the pollen on the Easter Lily.
The fancy ones such as this one above do not seem to grow as quickly as the other lily but I am able to divide some of them now as well.
I have Lily in just about every one of my garden areas and I cannot get enough of them. I just love this time of year as

Formosa Lily

BY SKEETER
The Beach Planter continues to grow here in my GEORGIA GARDENS. Click HERE to see a follow up and link to its beginnings.
A bargain find Flamingo has landed.
These bargain found Frogs call the planter home as well.
This photo was snapped on June 4 with the Formosa Lily about the same height as the Palm...
This photo was snapped July 22 with Formosa Buds showing as well as a Sweet Gum Sapling in the middle of the Palm.
This photo was snapped on Aug 2 while the Saint held up the top heavy plant. Ha, the sapling returned in the Palm as I have failed to pull the root but rather snapped it off.
These beauties came to my garden by sneaking into a gift of Canna Bulbs passed along to me by sweet Lola!
I do believe this Formosa Lily is about ready to be divided.
We stabilized Lily to the stake so it does not fall to the ground.
 She is full of Pollen.
And holding onto raindrops with our plentiful Summer rains.
I cannot Thank Lola enough for this FORMOSA LILY, In the Garden...

Summer Update

BY SKEETER
I have been busy here in my GEORGIA GARDENS since I backed away from the computer a bit. We are receiving rain almost daily so I am not dragging around the water hose. That is a good thing and my time has been spent on other things. I made a change in this area as something had to give.
I love Trumpet Vine but it has started to become a bit pushy in my Semi-Formal Garden. Here you see it has started to take over a Nandina the Saint and I recently moved from another spot to its new and final home.
After a missing vine, I can see the star and some old garden tools hanging on the fence that I had forgotten were there! Yes, the Trumpet Vine was taking over and had to go. I will be pulling this vine for a long time to come as it has spread all over the area with its long running shoots of roots!
I created another little spot of whimsy. Golf being the theme.
Tina, do you recall this Carolina Pottery bargain find while with me in Columbia South Carolina? I shall add more to this as I spot things on bargain shelves in the future. Oh, and now we have a Carolina Pottery here in our town!
We installed a new larger pool recently. Just in time for a week long visit with family. It is so much fun having kids in the house!
Worked on a craft of making plant markers. This was from Tina's tutorial on this blog a while back. Click Here to see the Posting. My darker colored clay markers do not look as nice as Tina's but I am working on it. Tina, are they supposed to be flexible after baking? My markers look and feel more like leather then clay...
Scotch Broom
Now I shall share some blooms of the past month in my gardens.
Wild Thing Sage

Red Riding Hood Beard Tongue (Penstemon)

Salvia

Lilies have been and continue to give a wonderful show!
I enjoy the many colors of lily throughout my gardens.
I have dug up and divided many and am well on my way to having Lilies in almost every garden I have created.
I only wish they would bloom from spring to fall but no such luck.
The blooms on my lily all seem to get larger this year.
Not sure if that is due to all the wonderful rain fall we have been receiving this year or not.
But I sure am enjoying the bright colors.
I have more to divide in time such as this beauty.
"Easter" Lily really showed off its bright white.
The bees are enjoying Allium. I planted 100 bulbs throughout the gardens last fall.
Red Hot Poker
Red Hot Poker was added to my gardens last year and it seems happy.
This Red Hot Poker was picked up from the bargain bin last fall. Little did I know it would be creamy yellow/white!
Butterfly Weed
Butterfly Weed called in the Bees. I love those bright orange blooms! I hope to show you some current blooming beauties with my next SUMMER UPDATE, In the Garden...
