You would hardly believe the two flowers above are of the same cultivar of daffodils but they are! I ordered 250 'Sun Disc' daffodils from John Scheepers last fall for the purpose that these little jonquilla type daffodils were reputed to be fragrant and would naturalize easily in my garden. It was my vision to have a wave of miniature fragrant yellow flowers in the front yard so I planted most of these daffodils in the lawn near my new pond and concrete patio. I must say their performance has been disappointing. The flowers are so small they don't even look like a daffodil bloom and the blooms are not fragrant. But! There is a uniqueness about these flowers-can you see it? The graduation in colors as the flowers get older is fascinating. You can have several shades of yellow to white flowers and so I thought I'd share this little trait with you all today. I'll give my 'Sun Discs' a bit longer in the garden due to this interesting trait....
