Inspired by Wamboldtopia

Remember the Garden Bloggers Spring Fling in Asheville, NC? It was not that long ago and still so fresh on my mind. I brought back a piece of Wamboldtopia with me to incorporate into my GEORGIA GARDENS. Click HERE to see Wamboldtopia.

It was a sunny day when capturing my creation with this long shot. So a bit difficult to see within. I am adding this shot to show the location of this scene along the woods edge.  

Moving in closer, we can see my little creation much better. An Elm tree fell after a freak and rare snow storm in Feb 2010. Click HERE to read about this fallen tree. We were not able to remove this heavy stump so we left it in place all this time.

I knew in time, I would come up with something to make this stump look nice. Robert Frost Hosta, Samuel Blue Hosta and an unknown Hosta along with Purple Coral Bells and Creeping Jenny.

Krossa Regal Hosta, Tiramisu Coral Bells and Creeping Jenny. This Hosta was found and added after the Coral Bells were planted. It shall be switched with the Coral Bells when cooler weather arrives this fall.

Since this is my little piece of Wamboltopia, I had to add this Fairy found at the Goodwill store. The topper is not exactly what I was looking for but will work for now. I know in time, I shall find the perfect castle type topper to this enchanting area.

I added stone to keep with the Wamboltopia inspired gardens.

The Saint calls the stone work, a little Stonehenge. This stump has sat in this place for 2 years now just being a dead tree. After my trip to the Fling in Asheville, I have been INSPIRED BY WAMBOLDTOPIA, In the Garden...

Real Roadside Beauty

Last weekend I had a post titled, "Roadside Beauty." I was of course joking about the Kudzu we see along the roadside in the southeastern United States. Even though invasive, I do find it a work of art in places and even see the beauty from within. I can say this as there is not any Kudzu growing in my Georgia Garden. Now lets move onto some real roadside beauties that I spotted while in Tennessee. The pictures above was snapped just up the street from where my parents live. It is along Dunbar Cave Road and I could not help but stare at it as each time I passed this spot. All greenery but so well placed don't you think?
Leaving Dunbar Cave road and intersecting with Wilma Rudolph Blvd, I found another spot of beauty. Different groups of folks from throughout Clarksville maintain some of the mediums at the intersections. I find this a wonderful program to help beautify a city.
This spot was in front of a bank teller machine. I was by this spot often and enjoyed this roadside beauty as well.
And right in the middle of the road, which is normally filled with asphalt, I spotted this beautiful little planter!
Some of you may recognize this place as Tina has posted on it once before when she first started this blog. This beautiful spot can be seen in front of the Toyota Dealership on Wilma Rudolph Blvd soon after you cross the Red River Bridge.
The beauty along this roadside is bursting with colors of Red and White. Do you notice that is the business colors used in Advertising? Thought sure went into that color scheme. This picture was not taken at the same spot as the pic above even though they look similar. They have several areas along the front of the car lot with the same pattern.
I was using the trusty Zoom lens from across the street to capture these pictures. My mother and I were not sure if the white vine is Clematis or Mandevilla but what ever it is, it is beautiful for sure!
And look, Palm Trees in Clarksville, Tennessee! I have heard a rumor of the price of each of these trees and they ain't cheap folks! Luckily for the landscaper, they made it through their first winter without dying. I am not sure but I think they have someone hired just to maintain these gardens on a daily basis as I saw him each time I drove by this spot. Maybe he washes the cars when not watering the flowers with his trusty hose. He should be proud with REAL ROADSIDE BEAUTY, In the Garden...

Wishing Well

Fall time is the perfect time for me to play in the yard. I can create new things without melting away in sweat from the hot Georgia days!

It was a while back when I picked up this little wishing well. I see them in front yards all over the south so decided I needed one. I had no idea where to find one then someone suggested I look at Harbor Freight. I think it was Cindee at Cindee's Garden but not sure. Please correct me if I am wrong as to who gave this hot tip!

To the left of the well is the small Canna & Caladium bed I have talked about in the past. To the right of the well, is the banana plant that Tina gave me while on a visit with her. It came complete with roly poly bugs! Too funny Tina...With the Saints help, we dug out the grass into an oval shape. I then got busy and pounded a brick border and poured a pea gravel pathway from the grass to the well and around to the back side. Then I planted the Sage plants I had sitting on the back stoop for some time. You recently saw our last hummingbird sipping from the blooms. Then topped it all off with fresh pine straw.

I was not sure where the wishing well was going to end up but Lola helped me decide. Lola was kind enough to send me lots of Canna and Caladium from her garden this fall. So I needed to extend the Canna bed and this came to mind! Thank you so much for the inspiration Lola. As the Canna, Caladium and Banana trees flourish, I may end up extending this small garden to the swing and spread things out a bit. I can hardly wait until next summer to see what happens in this new garden.

Lola and Tina, Thank you both so much for the wonderful gifts! I will think of you both every time I look at my WISHING WELL, In the Garden...
