Azaleas have gone bye bye

BY SKEETER
The Azaleas here in my GEORGIA GARDENS were really starting to light up the woods. I am disguising a project in the makings for a future Posting with that smiling ghost.
This one was as pretty and full of blooms as never before.

Even though they were blooming 3-4 weeks ahead of normal, I was really seeing some beautiful full bushes this year.
This is the my favorite of all the bushes as it is so huge after years of branches laying over and taking root. Now the sad news, we had the coldest day yet of our winter being 23 degrees last night. I just let nature take its course during the night.

And I awaken to a sad sight. All of my beautiful AZALEAS HAVE GONE BYE BYE, In the Garden...

  1. We have had this too. I feel your pain. We don't have azaleas but we do have a magnolia. It was loaded with blooms but not a one got to open. This is the first year in many that we haven't had any blooms. Such a let down. My almond bush might not even bloom. It looks ragged.

    1. So sad to loose our blooming plants. And this year, they were more beautiful than ever before. Only wish all of them had made it to full bloom. I may have a few late bloomers that will give some blooms but I am not holding my breath. Sorry you too lost blooms. I enjoy early springs but not late frosts. sigh...

  2. Wow! They really do pop in your woods! I think my favorite is the light pink one. Can't wait to see your new surprise!

    1. I so wish they were all able to get to the full bloom stage at least for one day if nothing else. Oh well, such is life for a gardener... Ho hum.... Tomorrow you shall see my latest project. Completed it over the weekend and just wrote a posting on it...

  3. Wow, your azaleas are stunning, Skeeter! Seeing them makes me wish I lived farther south. So sorry they didn't survive the cold snap, though. I'm worried about my old lilac which was already forming buds when the cold and snow hit us early this week.

    1. So sad to loose such beauties. But I reckon that is life of a gardener at times. We are finally back to warm temps again and I am hoping not much was damaged beyond repair in time. Peach Groves and Strawberry fields took a beating so I don't expect much Peach Cobbler this year. sigh...
