Mobile Paper Shredding and Recycling-On the Job

DSCN0784
I was at a business in Hopkinsville when I came out to a sight that made me smile. I never knew there was such a thing as a "Mobile Paper Shredding and Recycling" unit-but here it is-on the job saving our planet a wee bit at a time....

  1. Tina,

They have on the news about every 6 months about huge events where you can get your paper shredded for free with these type trucks here.

  2. For a second there, I thought you were visiting our neighboring state of AL and its grand city on the bay.

I just read through your latest posts about building the pond. What a job! But it looks like Mr. Fix-It is in his element. I wouldn't be surprised if he decides to go into the pond building business. It's looking great!

  3. Over here in Malaysia "old newspaper" guy would regularly come around to take away old newspapers. He will weigh and pay.

  5. I have seen the trucks beforealso. I think most banks and big business use them. There are also smaller scale ones that go to personal homes and smaller business. I have a small home shredder and put my shredded paper in my composter.

  6. Now that is a fine idea!
Companies must go through vast amounts of paper , even with all the computers that were supposed to make our society paperless. Ha

  7. We have a Shredding Day a few times a year at the recycling center up the street from us. We do not attend as we have a shredder and do that job ourself. Shredding paper not only adds to my compost but keeps our name a bit safer in the ID Theft world....

  8. I've never noticed these trucks around here, but what a great idea!

I just noticed your comment about Pinterest on your sidebar, Tina. I'm glad you posted that because I've been wondering about the proper protocol/etiquette. My daughter introduced me to Pinterest, and I thought it was a neat way to keep track of ideas I found and liked, so I have posted a couple of photos from other blogs showing gardening tips or designs. What I didn't know, though, was that suddenly I was getting notices that others were repinning my "pin." I do want to respect others' privacy and property, so I think I'll delete those photos...I guess I should have checked this out better beforehand to understand how Pinterest worked.

  10. We had a truck like this at out work place one year to clear out eons of old papers. Area banks often have one come to their parking lot and promote it for people to bring their old documents. Pretty cool.

  11. There was a time you could just burn a big ol' pile of paper you didn't want just anybody to see. Now you have to shred to be a good steward. We used a mobile shredder at work one year to get rid of decade's worth of payroll records, tax documents, invoices, etc..., and I would definately recommend it.

  12. We shred at home, though there are times where we go through piles and piles of paperwork that should be shredded....one day. Oy.

Every time I come to your blog I smile at the Camellia at the top of the page....just love it.

  13. things are slowly getting better I think, anything that makes it easier for people to recycle. Public awareness has drastically changed - I remember as a little girl people used to burn leaves!
