Look at the green grass in my GEORGIA GARDENS. The grass has never been more happy with the plentiful rains this summer. Getting it mowed in between rain falls has been a challenge.
Elephant Ears mingling with Iris and Susan.
Here you see a new garden I started back in spring when I tossed some seeds around. A bit wild looking now but will take shape in time.
A new lantern and shepherds hook for year round color.
Elephant Ears and Canna mingling behind the swing. The Elephant Ears shall be thinned out next spring as they have taken over this area in two years growth! Yes, they are loving all the rain this year. Stay tuned for a Posting on the Elephant Ears...
A nice view in the Semi-Formal Garden.
Angel Trumpet Garden after taking out 4 overgrown Lilies.
The Wishing Well Garden has really grown.
View to the left of our Grill/Patio area. Yes, that is one happy Fern on a stump. Here you can see pink Mandeville, Holly tree, Vinca, Liriope, Hydrangea, Prostate Yew, Rose of Sharon, Leyland Cypress and Dogwood bush that was once a tree that fell after a freak ice storm. After a smooth cut at the ground, it returned as a bush! Oh, and I forgot to point out the tall weed. ha.
And here is a second happy Fern, Hosta and Jasmine.
Spike Plant has really taken off with the ever falling rains this Summer. This plant is either 3 or 4 years old and over-winters in this pot and remains happy with our mild winters. A couple of Potato plants are dangling to give a nice RANDOM VIEW, In the Garden...

Your gardens are wonderful!! All of the rain has been great that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day ~ FlowerLady
Yes, we needed the rains but not so much so soon. Sigh, while some things such as Elephant Ears and the Grass are loving it, Some other things are not so happy. But I know in time all will be happy again...
DeleteI see that the rain has been a blessing in your garden. Everything looks so lush. I think it is amazing that you can grow elephant ears in the ground year round. They give the garden such a tropical feel.
ReplyDeleteA Blessing indeed for our 4 year drought stricken gardens. But a little too much is continuing to fall and we do need a break. And yes, the Elephant Ears are so Tropical and I am lucky to have them return each year. I shall share more on them next week...
DeleteGosh your garden is SO big! The views here really show that. That grass sets if all nicely too. I love your red canna and elephant ear combo. Everything is looking so good!
ReplyDeleteTina, I did not even notice how the new lantern matches the Red Canna! Did you see that? Not everything is happy and I shall share that with ya next week...
DeleteWhat a beautiful explosion of colour! :-) I love your garden. Many thanks for the lovely photos.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
I do not normally think I have much color so for you to say that, puts a smile on my face....
DeleteSkeeter, what a gorgeous garden! I love the bright color against the rich greens.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, the rich greens are coming from the plentiful rains we are receiving this Summer. I am enjoying life a bit more today as we have had 3 days in a row now with no rains so my lawn is drying out a bit... Finally.
DeleteThings are looking positively lovely and tropical in your garden, Skeeter. I know what you mean about the mowing. Just as I finished cutting our lawn yesterday, whoosh! Another downpour. The weeds are really getting out of hand here.
ReplyDeleteLuckily, I laid a heavy layer of mulch in most of the gardens before the rains started back in Early Spring. So those weeds are not so bad but the garden edges is another story. I am now resorting to bagging the grass clippings and pouring the clippings around the gardens. Seems to be working nicely but time consuming and tiring in this humidity...
DeleteI hope all your rain has not also brought out the mosquitoes.
ReplyDeleteMosquitoes have not been as bad as I would have thought but I believe the rain is keeping them washed out of the air...
DeleteI never realized your garden was so large and colorful. I don't think I ever saw a wide view before. You have quite a few pretty flower beds and I love those canna.
ReplyDeleteGWGT, we live on 2.5 acres surrounded by woods. I have tons of un-gardened space but want to leave the woods to nature...
DeleteGreat garden views. I really enjoyed having a look around.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bernie and I only wish I had a beautiful Kangaroo in my garden such as you :-)
DeleteGorgeous.
ReplyDeletethanks Lola...
DeleteSkeeter, I remember when I first started reading some of your early posts, and it seems to me you had a much smaller garden then. Your garden has grown tremendously and looks so beautiful! Those elephant ears are amazing! The rain this year has really made a difference, hasn't it? My husband grumbles about all the mowing he's had to do, but the garden has never been happier.
ReplyDeleteRose, I really did not have a Garden at all when I first started to Blog! Blogging put me in the mood to expand my little "Areas of Interest" into full blown gardens! I have a post in the works to show long shots of the entire gardens and also a post coming up highlighting the Elephant Ears. And yes, the rain has done wonders for some things in my gardens while taking some things away, sigh. I have resorted to mowing in patches with doing a little here and there verses trying to get it all done in one day in between rains. Some areas are so soggy we cannot get the mower into them. OH well, rather have too much rain then not enough I reckon...
DeleteSkeeter girl ... are those "Susans" laying down on the job in that picture ? or just taking a nap ?
ReplyDeleteAND .................. you seemed to have stolen our rain, please give it back as soon as possible ?
I can't wrap my head around elephant ears being a perennial even down there !!!
Less than 96 days until HALLOWEEN girl ..... are you getting excited ?? ...
OK ... I have to get ready for bed ... I got that excited !!
Joy : )
All your views look good. Please show off your garden like this more often! So much to see.
ReplyDeleteHow lush everything looks. Lots of rain and heat no doubt. For comparison I plants four elephant ear bulbs for the first time this year. The tallest on as of today is about five inches....:(
ReplyDeleteLove that Canna, think it is Tropicana? Great contrast with the elephant ears.
