Knockout Rose's

BY SKEETER
I only have a couple of rose bushes in my GEORGIA GARDENS. I do not like plants which bite back (thorns) and Roses can be fickle with humid summers.
A garden is not a garden without a rose. I do very little to maintain these beauty's. Low maintenance makes KNOCKOUT ROSE'S perfect, in the Garden...

*NOTE: Tina posted about her bees recently and failed to add this link to that posting. Bee's are having a tough time these days.  If you are interested in Saving the Bee's in your area and gardens, Click HERE to see how you can help the cause...

  1. Pretty roses. I have never bought one of the knock outs. Everyone that has them seems to appreciate their beauty and ease of growing them. I have two of those older easy roses, Carpet Rose. Both are pink. They have been in the ground for 20+ years and still bloom. I am like you in that I don't like thorny plants. Maybe we should try some of those thornless roses?

    1. Yes, thorn-less would be welcome addition to my gardens Lisa. I will give them a try when I come across a discount plant...

  2. I have Knockouts and like them quite a bit but yes, they do bite back. Hate thorns! There are some thornless ones. Zephirine Droughn is an awesome climber with very few thorns.

Thanks for posting the bee link for the Save the Bees Campaign!

  3. I'm with you, Skeeter--I have enough trouble keeping up with everything in my garden without adding some fussy plants that need more time than I can give them. Knockouts are the perfect solution. Is that a 'Radsunny' in the first photo? I have two, and I must say I don't like them as well as I thought. The tight buds are yellow, but the full blooms are more cream-colored than yellow. I agree with Tina about 'Zephirine'--it's the only climber I have, and it is nearly thornless.

    1. I have no idea the name of the roses. I just call them the red one and the yellow one. LOL, the yellow one does start out bright yellow and as it ages goes to almost white. Interesting how it changes color but I do prefer the bright yellow of rose's verses knockouts....

  5. I used to have Knockouts and liked them. Because of the Japanese beetles and the cold winters I've given up most of my roses. I have a few heirloom roses that are tough as nails and a couple cheapy hybrids that will winter kill sooner of later.
