Identical Buildings: Different Landscapes

I found the contrasts between these two side by side buildings to be most obvious and just had to snap some pictures of them. Can you see the differences?
The pictures were taken from the exact same spot and in the same manner. What does the below building have that the first building does not? Both buildings are identical.

Which building would you rather enter? I know which one I like the best and it involves some plants around the door:)

in the garden....

  1. Of course I'd rather go into the second building! It just looks friendlier.

  2. Hey Tina, kinda like entering a store with better window dressing huh? It's all about the curb appeal!

  3. Interesting contrast Tina. Wonder why one is without much landscape around it?

  4. Hmmm... could it be the power lines on top? ;D
Seeing them together like that really makes you appreciate the planting, doesnt it? What a difference a couple of plants make!

  5. The second one does say "Welcome".

  6. Tina, that's a great comparison. It makes me think of all the commercial buildings from gas stations to manufacturing plants to doctors offices that benefit from landscaping. I stopped at the most attractive gas station last weekend. I know, many people think the words gas station and attractive don't belong in the same sentence but a really nice and interesting landscape can make all the difference--as seen in your photos.

  7. Love the effect of the plant material in the second photo. Much more eye appeal & says "welcome".

  8. Mornin' Tina, very interesting but true. Anyone would go in the 2nd one if they had the same products inside.
I haven't been around much or even posted. After being so sick I got better and even hit some farmers markets and bought new trees and flowers then went back downhill. Now this crud won't let go. I'm thinking it's changed to sinus and allergies because of the itchies. Anyway gonna try and post today but wanted to come by and say hi first.

  9. The plants do dress up the second one quite a bit!

  10. Beautifying our structures is so much more important than it's publicly given credit for. I'm actually half-way working on a project of contrast photos showing industrialized vs. natural: which would you pick? This reminded me of it.

  12. What a difference a few shrubs and trees make. I don't understand why everyone wouldn't add some sort of landscaping. Your pictures really show the difference it makes.

  13. Hello Everyone! Tina is out and about enjoying life with her family again today! Way to go Tina, you deserve a break from all the hard work you do on a daily basis!

I like this photo comparison! It is a great example of curb appeal verses no curb appeal. I would be taking my business to the friendly inviting building which speaks to me and says, “here I am come inside and visit with me”!

Raingardener, I am sure it is allergies you are dealing with. Sigh, This time of year gets to us all at some point. Sorry for your lost time in the garden and Get well soon!

    Everyone have a great day!

  14. Landscaping makes even the most unattractive places seem more inviting.

  15. Hi Skeeter, nice to hear Tina is getting a break --she works ALOT and surely deserves a nice break:) I'm glad you come on and talk --geez what would I do without my adult interaction here, hehehe. I try to read everyday and I totally agree with you Jean. The plants/landscaping really make a huge difference. Lola I hope your plants are drying up a bit from all that rain. It surely is crazy --one minute we have too much rain the next not enough. It's hotter than heck here today but I think we might get a few popup showers to cool us and then raise the humidity thru the roof, ah summer weather:) We skipped spring this year and went from winter to summer:) Have a fabulous day everyone! Ciao!

  16. Yes, the one with the shrubbery/bushes looks more cozy and inviting.

  18. Hi Skeeter, I too am glad that Tina is having some R&R. She sure deserves it.
Anonymous, things are slowly drying out here. I did some mulching today & re potted, transplanted. I did find that if I move the soil about some it will dry out quicker. I do agree that we went from winter to summer.
    Hi Jean, Dawn & Nina.

  19. Anonymous, Am glad you enjoy the Grown Up talk with us! tee hee... Ah, we too went from below normal temps to above normal temps! Just plain crazy I tell ya! I was outside snapping a picture of a lunar moth and the drips started to roll down my face! I was only standing and in the shade!

We had to run to town and the Saint sat in the truck for about 5 minutes while I ran into the craft store, He does not like going in there too much, lol. As soon as he saw me coming out the door, he started the truck and had the AC going again! Funny thing, he went inside the rest of my stops. lol...

Am glad you are drying out Lola, I know FL had a ton of rain and I know the soggy feeling as the low spots are still soggy as the other ones drying out. Soon, I will be watering again.....

Jean, is it hot up there in Maine?

    Good Night all...

  20. Another great lesson, Tina. Of course landscaping makes a big difference no matter private home or business. Great eye to catch the identical bukidings!

  21. Hi Lola,
Glad to hear things are slowly drying out --they are calling for a cool front to move here --sounds okay to me:) The mulching sounds like alot of work --we finally made our pile go away --I had Boy 1 spread the rest of it last week.

Hey Skeeter --always enjoy hearing about your adventures. Saint must be a saint to sit and wait it out in the vehicle --I'd be hanging in every store just to feel the cool air:) I should be in bed --lil bundle has an appointment in the morning. I can't wait to see how big he is --I think he's grown a few inches --his lil sleepers are getting tight in the feet:0)

Hi Dawn --your Raggedy Andy is too cute --my MIL made some for the boys when they were about 3 or 4 years --surely didn't go over well -hehehe. I think if they were babies they might've at least hugged on them a bit. They really are adorable but my boys want no part of anything cute --

Hi Nina --hope all is well in your neck of the woods --still thinking of your beauty of a stream --ah you have a dream yard for my little boys and one girl model:0)

Hi Jean --I'm guessing everything is just bursting with blooms now --we always had a later start in PA and your further north --your flowers are probably just full of color. A great time of year --still hoping you come down for a visit:0)
I better get going --too much sweet tea for me tonight, hahaha. Night!

  22. Curb appeal makes a big difference even for commercial buildings - it's true.

PS - I have an award for you on my blog.

  23. It's amazing how stark a building can 'feel' without shrubs and some greenery. The building w/the bushes, etc. seems to call out 'come in'...it looks so inviting, even for a large industrial building. It would probably even have an effect on worker's moods and attitudes as they headed in to work there!

  24. Of course the second one is more warm and welcome with a pleasing environment around it. The first one looks more like some kind of factory or storehouse - oops! was that too harsh?
