Winter Tease

By SKEETER
I am still around, just not back to Blogging full time as of yet. I had a crazy year last year and was out of my Georgia Garden more than I had planned. Things finally started to fall into place for me in the Fall.
I have been able to get some well needed rest in the past few months. Wait, is that what you call driving through 8 states and visiting another country? Well, in my case, yes. Once all that came to a halt, the Winter Blues set in a bit on my body. The snow fall from last week revived my body and had me outside snapping pictures and sharing with you all. I am getting my groove back and had planned to post on my normal days once again. But now I find myself deep into another project. My dad gave me a box full of stuff with my last TN home visit. I have finally started going through this box. I have found some things that have made me laugh and cry at the same time. Hand written letters from grandmothers amongst other fun stuff. Needless to say, I have had a blast going down memory lane this week. This project may keep me occupied for a bit but I am anxious to share my Oct, Nov and Dec adventures with you. Until then, enjoy the above (except the snow bird) pictures to keep you warm. I sure was warm when snapping them the day after Christmas. Ah, can you guess where I was enjoying this warmth? Hint, I was inside as the snow started to fall outside...

The last of our Georgia Snow melted yesterday and today, I was driving on a sunny day with my sunroof open! Yes, from snow to warmth in a day! Such a WINTER TEASE, In the Garden...

  1. Skeeter,

Beautiful yesterday wasn't it. Hoping those winter blues leaves very soon! I've got a fully open hellebore bloom out there!

  2. Good morning Skeeter!, Lovely tease this morning with a few inches of yet more snow expected today. Urgh. That picture of the red berries with the snow is beautiful. You have me wondering about the others now-the Botanical gardens? Yup, I know how it is in the south. Unreal it can snow one day and the next the temp is in the 80s! That's why I love the south. As long as my plants and trees don't break dormancy it is all good. Have a great day!

  3. The weather in your area must be a real rollercoaster. My best friend's husband is a truck driver who makes regular runs to Georgia, and yesterday he called her to say it was in the 60's there, just as we were watching the first of yet another snowfall falling here.

Your first few photos remind me of some place tropical. But even spending some time in an indoor Botanical Garden sounds heavenly right now!

  4. Glad things are getting better for you. I remember you spent a lot of time helping your parents after the flood, I'm sure they were so happy to have you there. I remember when my parents moved and my parents gave us the boxes that we had left in their garage, it is fun going down memory lane with all those old things.

  5. Great tropical thoughts and images on a winter's day, Skeeter. No snow here, but the temps sure have been riding the rollercoaster. One day it's almost shorts weather, and the next day I'm wearing a heavy coat.

I hope your 2011 is a little more settled for you.

  6. Good Morning everyone!
The Teasing pictures were snapped in DC at the Botanical Gardens. The big South-East Coast Snow Storm of 2010 was starting so we had a quick tour of the Gardens. Oh so warm and everyone inside had such smiles on their faces!

I do like living in the South during the Winter time. We have enough warm days such as yesterday to keep us teased for Spring. Some times, we jump too quickly and plant flowers before Mother Nature is ready for them. That is a drawback of the Deep South. But I will take the teases any day over all that snow I am seeing on the blogs. Burrrrrrrrr, it is too cold for this sun seeking gal....

  7. Here is hoping you an your family, along with my own has a much better year this year. Even with all the good things in yesterdays post, it was the worst year of my life and I know it was at least 1 of the worst for you also. We have it coming to us girl!! When Dawn gets off chemo, just that alone will make for better days than now. That will be May or June.

  8. Mother Nature is playing games with us too. It sure makes it hard to be disciplined about gardening this time of the year.

  9. Jean, I know it was a horrible year for us both. I reckon all we can do is put it in the past and move forward. I continue to keep Dawn in my prayers for a full recovery. June cannot get here quickly enough now!

  11. Nice to see you Skeeter and glad to hear you're feeling revived! I see Georgia's gotten it's share of snow this year.

Just about any box of stuff found in an attic can keep me entertained for hours. It must be wonderful to read your grandmother's words and hear her voice as you're reading!

  12. I hope 2011 will be a much better year for you Skeeter!

Your box of keepsakes sounds like a wonderful rollercoaster adventure of emotions and nostalgia - what a perfect time of year for it.
