Every morning I wake up to a house full of animals that wish to be fed. The birds scold me for not filling their dishes quickly enough, the dogs look at me as only dogs can with those droopy eyes that say, "I'm so lovable so please feed me!", and Orkin is always at the front door knocking on it as if to say, "Hurry up and feed me too!" It is a delightful way to wake up each day and I wanted to tell each of you good morning!
How do you wake up in the morning?
in the garden....
I only wish my mornings to be so pleasant, phone ringing is the usual.
ReplyDeleteCute pic of Orkin.
Tina I don't have the birds or the dogs but I have two "girls" that rush me at my bedroom door when I open it in the morning .. then stick to me like glue as I stumble to the bathroom , for which they have to come in and make sure I'm still alive and moving towards the kitchen as they intertwine ? between my feet and make me trip a few dozen times .. then Emma "knocks" on the bottom cabinet to hurry me up .. Sophie has more dignity .. she just murmurs a few encouraging words .. finally food dispensed a few minutes to grab a coffee .. phew !
ReplyDeleteYes ..mornings are full of LIFE here too ! : )
Adorable, Tina! My wake-up call comes from Bandit(doggy)licking my hand and Lacey(kitty) will even lick my face at times. I never rely on an alarm clock...lol!
ReplyDeleteA quick walk outdoors (usually in slippers and pj's)but then I always end up wandering in the garden a little...it's a ritual! Love your sweet photo!
I just (just!) have three dogs who think they should get me up early, every day. Something about starving, like I believe them! Ha!
ReplyDeleteIt is kind of funny, you can crack one eye just a hair and Skyer is staring at you. It is almost as if he is 'willing' you awake.
Dawn, Business calls....!
ReplyDeleteJoy, I can so totally picture it! Gotta love those kitties!
Lynn, Love for sure! The pets are our opportunity to wonder the garden and enjoy life. Love it.
Janet, You hit the nail on the head! Don't crack those eyes or it is all over. Time to get up! Starving indeed those silly old dogs.
Cute post! Personally I stumble to the coffee pot!!
ReplyDeleteLOL! :-) Love Orkin's name, too!
ReplyDeleteWe hear "click, click, click" of greyhound toes on the hardwoods. Charm doesn't whine unless we go past 8:00-- which is rare as we are early risers. Then, we spend at least 1/2 hour on HER morning routine. Then, Alex bird gets out of his cage to cuddle and stretch his wings before getting his food.
Freda
Orkin is cute, where did you come up with that name? It is quite unique.
ReplyDeleteI wake up to bus stop madness, can't find my mittens, Where did you put my book, and I don't really feel like drinking milk today.
Rosey
The cat jumps on top of me and if that doesn't work, he bumps his head against my face! gail
ReplyDeleteDarla, I can sympathize.
ReplyDeleteCameron, Click click of toenails is wonderful. Great Charm lets you sleep in if desired. 8 o'clock is good!
Rosey, Ha! What fun! Orkin's name came from a previous neighbor. Orkin was a stray in his yard and he would not feed her because she was his 'pest control'. Hence the name of Orkin in common with Orkin Pest control. We feed our girl though so now she is my pest control and no longer visits that neighbor's yard. He was not happy I began feeding her. She is the best cat and was already spayed. We got lucky with her because she is street smart and has not been run over. She lives outside but I bring her in when it is cold. She does not care for a few of the dogs but is good. Thanks for asking sorry to write a book.
Gail, I can hear Coal saying-"Get up you!" Gotta love 'em.
Usually the alarm wakes us up as I help Jenny get ready for work. She's not as much of a morning person as I am and sometimes needs help getting out of bed!
ReplyDeleteWe ususally get a cat named Sheba on our back as we sleep. The two "girls" tell us it is time for daddy to get up and go to work. Then they crawl back into bed with mommy for a good nap with no one snoring in my ear!!! Then mommy gets her wake up call from Cheetha to start their morning routine. Clean the box, fresh water and food, etc....
ReplyDeleteI wake up reaching for my coffee then listening to the birds at the feeder scolding because there isn't any seed in it. Our pet house bunny is making noise, by thumping in her house, asking for Kale which she loves.
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love the way our animals get us moving in the mornings by playing a big guilt trip on us?
I wake up to the sound of 4 housecats banging on my door telling me they want food. Darn cats that are not even my cats!!!! My poor babies, the birds wait for an hour to get feed while I sit with the cats for an hour or more. Gotta love em anyway!
ReplyDeleteTina that is the cutest pic of Orkin. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI don't have any pets. Can't have them around Young'un.
HA, I love this Tina! The comments are great too. At our house Hazel thinks it her duty to get me up and also put me to bed. She will sit on the arm of the chair and give me the stare treatment as the clock rolls to the usual time for bed. We can't figure out how she knows what time it is. The cats have food available from a feeder that dispenses a little at a time, they eat whenever they feel like it. Dry food always for all of our cats, that's the way we have always done it. But Hazel still thinks I need to get up at a certain time, even on weekends and when the time changes, she does not adjust. She will stick a paw ever so gently under the covers that are pulled up over my head partway and touch my cheek.

Hi Tina! Oh, that kitty at the door, how I miss it! My morning started at 3 a.m. Everyone was still sleeping. Niccccce! Coffee. Nice. Then, my dog needed a short walk. It's rainy. Not nice. Three day weekend ahead. Nice!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the cutest pictures I've ever seen :) Yes, we have hungry pets looking for food too. What type of birds do you have? We have Zebra finches, and you sure know when they are hungry. Gracie (dog) usually just wants to sit on my lap as soon as I sit down at the computer to check email and blogs.
ReplyDeleteMy cats are very vocal about asking for breakfast. One cat winds thru my legs and makes it a death defying act to go down the stairs. The worst part is the special diets for these elderly cats. Two cats eat only special canned food. Another cat gets sick on the special canned food but always tries to steal it from the first two. That's about 15 minutes of my time wasted standing guard. Good thing I'm a morning person;)
ReplyDeleteMarnie
Ha Dave! What a nice hubby to help Jenny get her day started!
ReplyDeleteSkeeter, Gotta love those kitties!
Keewee, A house bunny thumping would be so fun! They are just like cats and dogs and make great pets. Yup, gotta love the pets!
Mom, You and I can't wait for Christy to get a house of her own-she can't wait either. Those cats and Bella need their mommy for sure. Did you know Bella dug another shrub up?? Urrr!
Lola, Glad you like the picture of Orkin. She is such a character and is at the door every single morning when I go get the newspaper. She cracks me up!
Frances, The comments are most fun! I love the talk. Hazel is a sweetie to gently wake you up. I can't figure it out either how they know the time each day-I'd like it later though:)
Tatyana, 3 am is mighty mighty early but I know it is wonderful! You enjoy your three day weekend and I hope it is a very nice weather wise one.
Catherine, Orkin is such a ham I tell you. She adores us but hates the dogs (really just Bella) so no matter how I try to get her to come in when she is there she just won't. She just knocks and teases us. I have three parakeets. Fun little girls they are but noisy and messy. I had zebra finches in Germany and adored them. So sweet compared to parakeets.
Marnie, Cats are such sweeties! Feeding special diets do take time but you have to make the best of it. I don't know why they don't just eat their own food! My mother does the same for my daughter's four cats because one steals from the others. Those cats!
Tina, this sounds just like my house! Sophie woke me at 4 AM this morning, even though I told her I really needed a full night's sleep. Apparently, nature was calling early:) Toby the cat is usually more polite unless he's out of food. Then he sits on my head and chews on my hair. Ah, but it's nice to be needed!
ReplyDeleteOrkin! LOL! Pretty much the same, here, let the dog out of the put him out side first thing.
ReplyDeletewe too wake up to lots of hungry and playful animals...5 dogs...two of which are still puppies...3cats...2 bunnies...one very hungry horse. all the bird feeders too.
ReplyDeletemost days i love it but every now and then...
happy autumn.
Your post makes me wish we had pets. We always used to have pets, then a few pasted on and a few moved out with my sister and now we have none. Its been at least 5 years with no four legged creatures.
ReplyDeleteWhen I wake up I head for the coffee maker, then fire up the laptop to check stock prices.
Too late to say "good morning" so how about "good afternoon"!
ReplyDeleteI hate to tell but I'm usually grouchy when I wake up.
Dan, Might be time to get you a few new pets. There are so many needing homes:)
ReplyDeleteDot, Good Afternoon surely works!
Very cute picture of Orkin, although he looks desparately hungry! lol
ReplyDeleteOkay that is the cutest picture I've ever seen. :) My cat Mooch wakes me at 5:30 every morning to go outside. Then my second son's alarm goes off at 6:30 for school and the oldest son's at 7:00 for work. It's always chaotic here first thing. lol
ReplyDeleteTina, I'm here and will see ya tomorrow at 1:00 pm
ReplyDeleteSweetBay, You know cats-they think they are always hungry!
ReplyDeleteRacquel, I can see it now!
Skeeter, See ya then. Looking forward to it. Bring the Saint too! I need to stop and get some brownies:)
Orkin's a great cat name Tina!
ReplyDeleteI wake up to Lawn Man's alarm clock, starting at 4:45 a.m., blaring every 15 minutes since he usually hits the snooze button a few times. Next I stumble to the coffee pot. By then George is awake and ready to chase rabbits out of the yard.
Have fun girls and Skeeter we want to see a photo of you at the ball with your costume!!! Have lots of fun working for the fur babies and a safe trip back.
ReplyDeleteHi Skeeter! I am in absolute agreement with Jean.
ReplyDeleteHi All, hope all have a marvelous "Halloween".
What a darn cute post! My Ellie is good... she sleeps in late just like her parents. LOL -Jackie
ReplyDeleteI will get a costume picture posted as they took photos of us....
ReplyDeleteFur Ball was awesome and we hope a lot of money was raised for those homeless babies. I know I am leaving TN with a lot less money in my purse...
Much the same way Tina! My dog gets fed first then I make coffee for myself. The Blue Jays usually wake me up ~ screeching for their AM peanuts. After I've taken care of them, I feed my cat and finally my daughter and myself! Crazy, isn't it? I'm just now starting winter bird feeding but in the summer months I add filling the grape jelly feeders (for the orioles) to the AM chore list.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful view to behold. Many thanks. Cracking post.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.

ReplyDeleteI have a similar kitty called Catty; early morning as soon as I wake up, when I'm at mom's place, I run to see her & play with her...but she would still be sleepy & only yawns when I wake her up..... Ur pic reminded me of her.

My cats get their main meal at night, so they just want to go out int he morning, but they're not insistent about it. Squirrels are particularly demanding, though... they practically bang on the doorwall!
