We knew this day would come, but it came all too fast. Christine has shipped out to Iraq and we'll all miss her terribly.
Best wishes for fun travel and a safe mission in Iraq! We all love you and keep smiling!
in the garden....
As of this posting date Christine has made it to Kuwait. She'll be there a few days in-processing then head out to Iraq. The above pictured flowers were going away bouquets given to her; which I am now enjoying.
A hedge of protection is being prayed around her along with her fellow/fella soldiers...What a great smile!
ReplyDeleteHi dear Tina, our thoughts are with Christine and the family during this time. I know you are proud of her. Hedge of protection, brilliantly put, Darla.
ReplyDeleteFrances
She called before she left, hopefully the year will be quick.
ReplyDeleteWith hope it will be an uneventful trip and shortened for all who are deployed. Have one about to come back (an almost son) and two nephews heading out, one to Iraq and one to Afghanistan. Family business? Best wishes to Christine --be safe.
ReplyDeleteTina .. I understand how this feels.
ReplyDeleteI'm wishing her the best conditions possible and safety for this military tour, as for all the members there. My husband is a Gulf War vet with severe complications .. so it touches my heart deeply for all military people deployed and serving in these areas. Bless them and keep them safe.
Joy
Dear Tina, A big hug to you and your family. Let me add my prayer to the hedge of protection. gail
ReplyDeleteTina,
ReplyDeleteShe looks pretty happy, what a nice photo of her in her uniform.
My best to your family and a big hug to you, because I bet you need it.

OMG, that's so sad! I"m sure it's not the same as saying goodbye another time. My thoughts will be with you and Christine.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for a safe trip.
ReplyDeleteMarnie
Tina, Hedge of protection for Christina with prayers for all the family. Our prayers are for the safety & quick return for all our service men/women who are so diligently trying to maintain our freedom.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your very kind words. I know all the well wishes from everyone will help to keep Christine and her fellow soldiers safe.
ReplyDeleteTina, please keep us posted..and please let Christine know she is in my thoughts and prayers...and, please tell her I said
ReplyDelete"THANK YOU!!!"
I for one am getting sick of this Middle East deployments. First you Tina, then you again and then your husband and a grandson in law and now my first born grandchild. I will be so glad when this year is over but even better when EVERYONE is back home.
ReplyDeleteShe will be in Kuwait till the 30th
for processing and then on to Mosual (hope I came close to spelling that right). She called yesterday afternoon and again this morning at 5:45am. It is 105 degrees and she is not liking the heat. She said it is dry but a lot of wind so she is covered with sand all the time (you know the feeling). They are in an air conditioned tent but have been told not to stay in it a lot as they need to get used to the heat. Then she said it went down to 50 degrees during the night and she was up digging thru her pack to get her sleeping bag and even though it was a cold weather one, she was still freezing. Not real happy right now but dealing with it all. As everone who has been there has had to do. I wanted to ask her if she had seen one of those ugly looking camel spiders or not but nope, figured I'd let that one go for now. The way she is with animals (her and Skeeter) she will be trying to help them!!
I'm sending good wishes too for a safe time in Iraq for her and all the rest of the military. Thank you to her and everyone else that are serving our country!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great smile :)
A debt of gratitude and a prayer for safe-keeping for Christine. She has the most beautiful, warm smile!
ReplyDeleteMy best wishes to Christine...may she be safe throughout.
ReplyDeleteIt must be very gratifying to have Christine follow in your footsteps joining the military. She is a beautiful young woman and our thoughts and prayers will be with her during her tour.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for you good wishes. I am sure Christine will read the blog post as soon as she is able to.
ReplyDeleteMom, She'll get used to the heat. It truly is a shock! And yes, I know all too well that full of sand and dust feeling-yuck! This month begins the 'shaamal' winds so she will be experiencing the winds and dust for some time. I told her ahead of time but until you really experience it you don't know how bad it is. The climate is so dry that a 40-50 degree temp drop between day and night makes the nighttime seem most cold. The desert is really something.
I join in with the everyone else in praying for a hedge of protection for Christine. May she always be safe.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to Christine for a safe time and to you and your family, Tina. Two local units of the service have returned home in the past week to a hero's welcome. I look forward to the day when ALL the soldiers can come home! In the meantime, I'd like to be another branch in that hedge of protection.
ReplyDeleteHi Tina. Sending positive thoughts to Christine and your family for a safe and sound trip and a year that passes quickly.
ReplyDeleteSending best wishes for the health and safety of Christine and her co-patriots!
ReplyDeleteMay Christine and all deployed military be safe.
ReplyDeleteCameron
I salute Christine and all who are serving our country. May God watch over her and her fellow comrades in arms while they are on foreign soils.
ReplyDeleteSo, it looks like Jean is your mom, Tina and Christine is your sister. Thank you for your service, and tell Christine thanks too. I don't pray for people in the service enough. I'll have to change that, and keep your sister and the others in my prayers.
ReplyDeleteI'll be thinking of her. My niece's husband has gotten out of the Army due to medical reasons. He was in Iraq three times.
ReplyDeleteMay they all be safe there.
ReplyDeleteHi all, Thanks so much for the well wishes!
ReplyDeleteSue, Christine is my oldest daughter:) I wish I were young enough to have a sister this young.
It feels really terrible to wish away a year but that's what I'd be doing if my daughter were there. We so appreciate her service tho (and that of everyone else who serves) and wish her the best.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts & prayers are with your daughter Tina.
ReplyDeleteTell Christine I said thanks. My son has been to Iraq twice now. He is with the National Guard. His next deployment is in 2012. I wish you and your daughter the very best
ReplyDeleteKathleen, It will go by so fast and while we'll miss her, I know she'll have some really one of a kind experiences so I hope she enjoys her year. Time is so priceless.
ReplyDeleteRacquel, Thanks so much.
Joe, Hello and welcome. I'll be sure to tell Christy of all the well wishes. I am glad your son has had two successful tours and here's to another in 2012 if we don't pull out before then. One can only hope. It is so rough for the National Guard deploying so much. What a disruption in a life. Take care and tell him and his family thanks for his sacrifices.
Safe Travel wishes for Christine! She will adapt and return a stronger person in more ways then one. May God keep Christy and her comrades out of harms way....
ReplyDeleteMy very best wishes to your family. My husband and I both were in the military--he made a career of it. So we are especially proud of your sacrifices.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for people like Christine! Good thoughts and prayers for safety are being sent. My sister had 2 tours to Iraq. My nephew had 1;and is about to go back for his 2nd tour, this time to Afghanistan. My neices husband is shipping out to Iraq this fall, as well. We were in the Army for over 20 yrs and missed all of this chaos...save for Desert Storm; but that was ridden out behind a desk at the Pentagon! Take care!
ReplyDeleteSkeeter, Thanks! I'm sure Christy will check this post at some point but if not, I'll pass on all well wishes.
ReplyDeleteAnna, Thanks so much. The military is surely a unique life and thanks for your service too.
Jan, Lucky you to have missed this chaos but still it seems you are affected with family members deploying left and right. A far reaching war these two countries are for sure. Best wishes for your family's safety and thank you for you and your family's service.
