Fling Teaser

BY SKEETER
I left my Georgia Gardens for the past five days. Luckily, we had rain just before I left so I was not too concerned that anything would perish in this summer type heat of spring. I along with our Master Gardener here at "In the Garden", Tina and The Saint took off to partake in our First Garden Bloggers Spring Fling! Above, is one of many pictures snapped during this Fling.

We were close enough to drive to Asheville, NC and meet others with similar interests. (Click HERE, to find out more about Asheville, NC) Gardening, Wildlife, Family, etc. You know the things we all enjoy talking about on our blogs. I snapped one shy of 600 pictures while on this journey. I have enough material to write about each garden we visited. And we visited a LOT of gardens! We arrived a day ahead of time so we could tour Biltmore as well. The days were full from 8:30 until dinner time! It may take me a bit to get the post's ready so be patient with me please. For now, I shall leave you with this little sample of the beauty we took in while on our first Garden Bloggers FLING TEASERIn the Garden...

  1. I used to head to the mountains of NC every summer when I was in high school. This area has such incredible natural beauty! I hope you were able to explore the Blue Ridge parkway as well. There are some amazing overlooks and also some waterfalls that you can stop at and hike to.

    1. Three Cat Manor, First of all, I just love the name of your blog! I am a kitty mama and adore my little fur balls.... This being our first Fling and first trip to the NC mountains, The Saint and I are in love! We have driven through the MT but never spent any time in the Asheville area. The Saint has applied for jobs in the area but thus far, no luck. We have been on the Virginia part of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Georgia portion as well but we had no time at all to explore the NC Blue Ridge. Well, Christophers and mom's gardens may have been on that trek. I know it was beautiful on the way up that mountain! Our schedule was so full, we had little time to explore on our own.. What an awesome event!

  4. Asheville is wonderful, especially the climate. I could easily live there! I think I took close to 1000 photos. Editing them is going to take some time.

    1. Phillip, And I thought 600 was a lot. I knew you were knee deep in it and I will forever think of you when I enter a Rose Garden! I cannot wait to see your view of the Roses as well as other goodie. The Saint has applied for jobs in Asheville and after a visit there, I now hope he has a hit with an offer! I too think I could live up there with less heat then we have here in the Deep South. Mountain air just does something to the soul. Although getting wiffs of that Paper Mill were not so great. Hee hee... We deal with that here in Augusta though...

  6. Please post more and soon! I went to last year's Fling, but not this year, and feel really starved for images from this one. Hardly anyone has posted anything yet, just a few little bits and pieces on Facebook. And don't worry about overlap, I want to see everyone's take on it!

    1. Alison, I know that starved feeling as that has been my feeling since I started blogging around the 2nd Fling! The thought of being surrounded by so many garden lovers finally got us to one of I hope will be many in the future! I have to weed through 600 photos but just had to get something up for today. I believe I snapped enough for a post on Each Garden so I shall be posting for a while on this fun event....

    2. I know! I wish that I could have been there, but there was a pre-wedding event on Saturday (the wedding for my stepson was previously scheduled for that day but got moved to June 9). My 92 yo MIL is also in declining health so we're reluctant to schedule anything that requires reservations and deposits. One of these days!

  8. Lovely photos and a great tease! You know, I forgot to take a full on photo of Biltmore--oops! Out of 615 photos, you'd think I would have one of the house, wouldn't you?! It was so lovely to meet you all, and I look forward to reading more of your posts!

    1. Donna, we got lucky with this Fling as it was close enough that The Saint would drive us! Plus, Biltmore was on our "Bucket List" It was great to meet people we have chatted with for years while on this trip. The Saint even had a good time so we will attend another Fling at some point. Not San Fran in 2013 as it is too far but rumor has it that 2014 is Charleston, SC. Looking forward to that one for sure as it is one of our favorite cities to visit...

  13. I just searched Google to find out where the 2013 fling will be and found my way back to this post to read the comments . . . San Francisco sounds great for me next year, hopefully. I've been wanting to go for years but haven't been able to so far. By next spring my baby will be old enough to leave behind so I can go and meet some garden bloggers! Charleston would be a hoot as well. Hopefully I can meet you two writers in person sometime in the next few years, won't that be fun?! Have fun sorting your pictures. Haha.
