Don't bees and sunflowers go together well? One cool morning I awoke to discover several bees sleeping on the sunflowers. I thought it was darling.... in the garden....

Why did you say they are sleeping there? Is it because they are already there so early, earlier than you? hahaha. Maybe sunflower is the most photographed flower in the world, be that as it may, but it is always attractive to humans too!
Sunflowers are really interesting close-up. An amazing range of colors from orange to red to brown. Sorry I haven't been visiting much but I've been incredibly busy. The tree damage hasn't helped.
I grew sunflowers this year, but I never saw any bees on them. I suppose they visited, though, as they made seeds. I've never seen bees sleeping - and now I wonder where mine do sleep. Maybe I'm just too loud and wake them up!
Cute! I think bees go with any flower. With all the decline in bees I am always so happy to see them. This summer has been very happy as I seem to have many more bees than other years and I am loving it. Has anyone else noticed that? I have not seen anything about it in the papers or on the news. I am hoping others have noticed it.

ReplyDeleteI love finding sleeping bees! So tell me, what is the secret to growing sunflowers! I cannot get them to grow in my garden!
ReplyDeleteI always think when I see them, what a wonderful way to start the day. Waking up in the middle of a flower.
ReplyDeleteSuch great pictures. Sunflowers and bees, symbols of the summer.
ReplyDeleteLove the bees on the sunflowers. I saw bees on the tiny flowers of weeds that I was cleaning up in my asparagus bed for the winter.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos!!
ReplyDeleteHow lucky whenever I try to photograph bugs they fly away before the shutter has shut
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome. I never find sleeping bees. Luck you!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I've been enjoying the last of the sunflowers in Maine too.
ReplyDeleteLove your photos. Am going to send you a photo of a color pencil drawing I did of a sunflower and bee for my sister. Love the detail of the seedhead.
ReplyDeleteWhy do you think they are sleeping? If they are they must be having sweet sweet dreams :-)

Oh so the bees are sleeping? Good to hear, I always thought they were ill when I found some bees that weren't moving.
