I discovered something new here in my Georgia Garden. Do you know this bloom above? See the tiny berry? It is a Holly Tree! I had no idea that Holly Trees have tiny blooms but since they produce berry's, it makes sense after thinking about it a bit.
I added this Holly last year during year 2 of a drought. This was one of my purchases from McCorkles Nursery's. I have not seen any stress with this tree since we planted it.
It is not the prettiest of trees at this stage as it has a bare spot in the middle. At $10.00 for this beauty, I am not complaining.
New growth tells me the bare spot may be gone soon on this HOLLY, In the Garden...

A New Year

After reading the posting about my Georgia Holly trees last week, my mom sent these pictures of their Tennessee Holly Tree. Of course, I am envious of all the bright Red Berries she and dad have to enjoy. I am sure their birds will be enjoying them as well...

Now that all the presents are opened, decorations packed away, what do you think Santa and his Reindeer are doing?

Well, Camping of course! Can you think of a better way to rejuvenate from all that hard work and flying all over the world?

Santa and his hoofed friends are kicked back and relaxing with a little time off. Soon he will be at it again as it is A NEW YEAR, In the Garden...

Holly Tree

When I think of Holly, I think of Christmas and Red Berries. I know Christmas has passed for some, but in our house the trees and decorations remain in place to welcome in the New Year! As you know I have cats in the house so I don't use real materials when decorating but I would have been real upset if I could use real things such as red holly berries. Why you ask? Well, my two Holly Trees have yet to produce bright red berries in my Georgia Garden!

I don't know if these trees are wild or were planted by the previous homeowners. They were here when we purchased the house 7 years ago. The trees look healthy and have bright green leaves so what could be the problem? Maybe, a male female thing? Maybe, not enough sun shine? They are at the edge of the woods. Maybe, not the correct soil type? Hum, does anyone know why my at least 8 year old HOLLY TREES are not giving me berries, In the Garden...
