A Lovely Combination
Love and marriage, father's day gifts....they go together just like a horse and carriage, or in this case like pink and blue. A fortuitous combination came along in the front foundation border-pinks and blues. Catmint and 'May Night' salvia provide the blues whereas a peony and 'Rolly's Favorite' silene make up the pinks.
This is a soft orchids color combination that works well just about anywhere. Right now in the garden it seems to be the mode of operation-with a few newly blooming lilies kicking in some yellows and oranges.
The fine texture of the catmint combined with the rougher texture of the salvia and strong foliage of the peony and silene make for a pleasing flower and foliage combination even without the soft pinks and blues....
in the garden....
What are some of your favorite color combinations?

Hey Tina,
ReplyDeleteI have that same combination in my garden...except now the peonies have expired. :( Hope you are doing well. Carla
Red and purple, pink and purple, blue and yellow, purple seems to go with everything. Lovely peony. :)
ReplyDeleteGood morning all!
ReplyDeleteCarla, Lucky you to have such a great combination. I love this one. This pink peony is a late peony. I don't know the cultivar but sure do love it because it came from a dear gardening friend.
Nancy, I am loving the combination. Never really had one like this before and this planting is in the front garden so it's especially nice.
I don't know much about floral combinations, all I know is that those photos are beautiful beyond the human imagination. Many thanks for the visual gift.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
I like that combo too! Catmint really seems to grow well with anything.
ReplyDeletePeonies make everything look good, don't they? My favorite combos are blue and yellow and I like white gardens, too.
ReplyDeleteGreat combination. I wish I have peonies plant in my garden now. But I am not sure whether they grow well here or not. I am having fun interplanting flowers and vegetables. Pansy and leek are my favourite. Bush bean and viola, zinnia and okras, English daisy or calendula with brassicas.
ReplyDeleteThose colors do look good together.
ReplyDeleteAny plants that are left after the deer and elk, those are the combinations that I like. Ha Ha.
Really, I like yellow and purple.
That's a beautiful combo Tina! The color and textural contrasts are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI too love pink and blue together, as well as yellow and blue. Although in our shady garden orange is rare, I think quite possibly my favorite color combo is orange and blue.
Very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI like purple and yellow together.
That is a lovely combination: blue blooms and peonies. I like the high contrast of purple with yellow (complimentary colors) and beds of varying shades of purple/blue.
ReplyDeletePink & Blue are always a pretty combination in the garden. :)
ReplyDeleteVery pretty and I like any possible color combo. As far asI am concerned nothing clashes and all look good together but if I had to pick a fav I could not pick just 2. I would have to say, all colors together. At least as many as you have on hand. Right now the liliacs are coming out so I have to say purples and white.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photo girl! Love that Pink and Blue together. I am like Jean loving all color combinations. I would say my favorite is Purple and Gold/Yellow. My high school colors, what can I say. LOL....
ReplyDeleteHi All.
ReplyDeleteTina that is a wonderful post. I too, like Jean, like all colors together like nature. I guess I just like nature as it is. So pretty.
Catmint and Maynight....good idea!!! Love that Peony, those frilly petals are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI bought May Night and Catmint this year! Hope mine do as well as yours!
ReplyDeleteI have cat mint seed, wonder if it's too late to plant.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very dreamy combination Tina. The peonies have not yet started to bloom here. I always like pink with anything!
ReplyDeleteTina, I also have to comment on the striking combination of pink and blue. The peony looks so beautiful with the backdrop of tiny blue flowers.
ReplyDeleteLovely combinations in your garden! Blue, pink and lavender look wonderful together.
