BY SKEETER
I have been working my rump off in my GEORGIA GARDENS the past few days! And I am loving every minute of it too! Cool mornings and evenings with what I consider perfect sunny and warm yet not humid days!
I have never really had much Spring color before as most of my gardens were full of summer blooming plants. The past couple of years, I have been working at getting more Spring color. I think I did a great job on the East side of the house by the Chimney Planter. I have discovered that Blue Moon Phlox, (phlox divaricate) loves my gardens! This area was bare until last fall when I divided a couple of plants from the main planter. I transferred the little saplings along the boarder of this new planter in hopes for some filling in of a blank spot. My plan worked but I had forgotten the plants were Phlox! I keep saying that I am going to make tags and even have the supplies to create them, I have just yet to be motivated to make them.
Tina do you remember asking me what this plant was when you were visiting with us in Winter? Well, I told you wrong as I thought it was something different then this beautiful BLUE MOON PHLOX, In the Garden...

I am hopeles at remember what is where. I sometimes use labels but they have a tendency to get moved, I have tried making notes but I dont keep it up so its a case of peering and trawling through blog posts
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying the spring evenings here in the UK as well and doing lots of gardening. Love the blue of your phlox
Helen, Can you believe I have the supplies to make nice markers but have yet to do it? Silly me but these days I must have the motivation to craft. I am getting a bit lazy...
DeleteI am glad to hear that Spring has Sprung in the UK. I know some areas had way too much rain last year so hopefully, you shall have a banter year with less moisture this year....
Happy Gardening!
I just love this Phlox. I have three in my garden and plan to get more because the flowers and the color are so beautiful! I really like your bunny too! We had another late frost last night...woke to 30 degrees. Thankfully I had covered hubby's Tomatoes and my Big Surprise.
ReplyDeleteFreezing temps in late April? Oh my, not good at all for a gardener! My parents in TN usually wait until May 1 to plant anything as that is a pretty safe date. We are normally just a couple of weeks ahead of you guys but think we are about 3 weeks ahead this year with our early spring. I would freak out knowing a freezing snap was on the way here as the yard is full of blooms right now... Hope all your other fun stuff survived the wrath of Mother Nature...
DeleteI don't remember Skeeter. So glad you found out what it is. I love it along your house. You need to spread it everywhere again as it gives such lovely color!
ReplyDeleteTina, I believe I called this Phlox Candytuft! How silly as I had forgotten even picking up the Phlox! Although, I do have two in the Semi-Formal Garden that I had not forgotten about. I tell ya girl, I so need to take those supplies and make those dang markers....
DeleteYes indeed, I do plan to spread this beauty all around the yard as I love its true Blue color...
Blue Moon is beautiful! Speaking of, its suppose to be a rare "pink" moon tonight. :0) The flowers are great, but I couldn't help but notice how beautiful the lawn looks as well!
ReplyDeleteI have not heard of a Pink Moon before. Hum, shall research this one a bit as the moon fascinates me! Ah the good ole Rye Grass lawn keeps the lawn green year round for us. We have hot weather Centipede and St Augustine. It goes dormant in the winter then takes forever to green up the following year. I get the Winter Blues with a dormant gardens so to cheer me up, we started sowing Rye in the fall. And low and behold, it does the trick for my Blues or lack of. Only issue is we must mow year round. LOL
DeleteI love your blue moon phlox. I saw some pink ones on Clay and Limestone's blog I think, and they were pretty too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Gardening ~ FlowerLady
Flowerlady, I love the true Blue Color of this plant. Yes, Gail at Clay and Limestone loves her Phlox. She refers to it as the Perfect Plant! I may have to mix in some pink with this beauty as I think that would be a pretty combination...
DeleteYour Blue Moon Phlox is really lovely!
ReplyDeleteI must look for it here.
Have a wonderful day!
Lea
Lea's Menagerie
Lea, your weather in Mississippi should allow this Blue Moon in your gardens as well. We have similar climates being in the Deep South. This Phlox prefers Morning sun only so keep that in mind. I did not mention that on the posting when I should have...
DeleteWhat a pretty border, Skeeter! The blue phlox is the perfect addition here. I have good intentions, too, about labeling plants, but haven't come up with a permanent solution yet. It means I always have some surprises in the garden:)
ReplyDeleteExactly Rose! Surprises indeed with no tagging! Ha, I shall remember that one girl. I have most pot tags on file in envelopes according to year purchased but have yet to transfer them to Garden Tags. I am getting lazy these days I reckon as I really don't know what I did over winter as that is normally when I get into crafty type projects. This winter, escapes me for some reason. Maybe I was abducted by aliens and don't recall that memory. LOL...
DeleteYour Phlox seems to be very very happy!! Love its delicate blue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful color. I need to check & see if It will grow on the East side of my house. Morning sun, ya know. I love blue in my garden.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. You certainly added the touch of spring in this bed.
ReplyDeleteHello Skeeter, how are you now! I don't often come in contact with you here, as i don't visit all posts. Those blue phlox i lovely and i do love all the blues because we seldom see that cold color here in the hot tropics. But it looks like it has more shades of violet too, other than blue.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfect mass of blue phlox.
ReplyDeleteWhere did you buy your Blue Moon Phlox? We fell in love with it in virginia but can't find it here in clarksville.
ReplyDeleteMost of my plants I find at the bargain bins at Lowes! I live in Georgia so our Lowes Garden Centers carry different items then in TN stores....
