Easter Lily

By SKEETER
Guara blooming in my Georgia Garden...
Renovations are continuing in our home. Electric and Plumbing are very time consuming but just about finished. We are getting a bit closer to the building part each day. When the rebuilding starts, things should move quickly.
The renovations are not as stressful as the rest of my life. I am a bit of a neat freak and some may say (including the Saint) that I have a touch of OCD where my house is concerned. I like things in their place and I like to be organized. So trying to carry on a normal day with clutter all around is driving me a bit crazy. The Sun room where I spend most of my time is a complete mess. The new bathtub, new toilet, plywood, 2X4's, etc are pushing me a bit over the edge!
The Kitchen is becoming cluttered...
The dining room table has become a catch all...
We had to leave our bedroom and move upstairs as it is a total mess. I am okay with the renovations as I know to do these things correct, one must take their time. But the rest of the house is driving me nuts. Blogging and some other things may be put on the back burner for a bit.
The day after Easter Sunday, I found Easter Lily's for $1.00 each. I have never had an Easter Lily so I do not know much about them. I could not resist the bargain on these four plants as they still had buds to bloom. I plan to plant them in the garden but not sure they will survive in our climate. Have any of you ever planted them in your gardens? What tips can you give me for better hope with EASTERS LILY, in the Garden...

  2. Skeeter,

Wish we'd have some of that neat freak over here. Meg has boxes of who knows what from 20 years of teaching. They pile up with no place to put them. I moved 10 boxes to the attic yesterday. The house there will be so nice once finished be patient.

  4. Deep breaths, deep breaths...reno will be over before you know it, :)
Easter Lily, Lilium longiflorum, I believe. They like sunshine and cool soil, bloom naturally in June/July...success rate will vary. Treat as any other lily...good luck!

  5. It's not easy living in a renovation, but you'll get through it and will be so happy with the final results Skeeter! :) Easter Lilys are so easy, just plant them in the garden and they'll come back every season, but won't bloom for at least a year or two. They have to recover their energy from being forced for Easter Blooms. :)

  6. I hate the confusion that comes with renovation. I know that the end results will be worth it for you. Good luck with the Easter lilies. I have never planted one either, so I am no help at all. Carla

  7. I keep showing Rog your pics as one day we plan to do our downstairs bathroom-not to the studs though. That is a big project! It'll be worth it when you are done.

I love all lilies and think you can't go wrong with them. I think they'll do fine in your garden.

  8. Good for you all to do the renovations yourselves. New toilets are amazing...wish we had purchased one for each bathroom before we left VA.
I planted a few Easter lilies in my past...some made it some didn't. I blame voles for the lack of success. They should do quite well in your area.

  9. I feel your pain. We renovated our entire house before we moved in. I didn't think it would ever get done.

The easter lilies - I've never had them, but I imagine you would dig in the fall? Good luck with them!

  10. Good Morning all, I woke up to cold coffee as we lost power at some point. Also humidity in the air and I must mow the grass today. Not starting off to a great day, sigh....

Thanks for your motivation on the renovation. I know it will be worth it all once finished but until them, I hope I don’t end up in the loony bin.....

I will stick the lily's in the ground near the other lily in the Wishing Well Garden and just see what happens. I do like to experiment at times…

    Everyone have a good day...

  12. Hello all.
Skeeter the renovation can be mind bogging but it will be worth it. Patience is the key. I think. My bathroom needs a redo.
Lillie's are pretty but they don't bloom at Easter, even the wild ones.
Just plant & watch. Be adventurous. More fun that way.

  15. Good luck on your renovations! That would be a major event to work around. I know one day we'll either have to do the same or move to a new garden - oops, I mean house.

All the living room furniture is at presently in the dining room etc. I am sure it will be worth it in the end, but for now it is hard to take. 18. That does look like a big project. I like things neat and tidy too and when ever we have worked on a project I want to hurry up and finish so everything can go back where it belongs. I can't wait to see how it looks all finished. I never thought about planting Eater lilies, what a great idea!
