In The Garden

By Skeeter

While recently visiting my family in Tennessee, I was able to get out to our very own Master Gardeners neck of the woods. Tina wanted the Hibiscus that I talked about giving away with another post. The plant made the trip with me and to Tiger Gardens it went. Hope it gives you lots of blooms to enjoy. I loved the plant but not bringing it inside each winter as the cats were not happy with it being behind a closed door.

It is always fun going to Tiger Gardens even if for a quick run in and out as on this day. Tina's front walk is always so inviting.

I never know what to expect at Tiger Gardens as Tina always has something new for me to see. Such as the made over shower door she created with freebies from freecycle! She showed us this Mosaic Masterpiece a while back but seeing it in person was so much better. The colors are so vibrant and just glow when the sun is shining through. Tina, you outdid yourself on this one girl. You could sell them and get rich one day as they are that awesome!
My favorite flower blooming at Tiger Gardens this day had to be the beautiful Angel Trumpet's.
I was totally drawn to their glow and size!
Yet another Mosaic by Tina on the front porch. These are such works of art.
How pretty is this beauty? Ah, so so pretty....

I am so glad I took Tina the Turtles Plant as it now has a new home and I have more memories from being IN THE GARDEN...

  1. You're so lucky to be within driving distance of Tina and her magical garden! I totally agree ... her mosaics are definitely very creative. She seems to have put in a lot of effort in creating those.
And those Angels Trumpets! Wow! They're really stunning. And such a lovely colour !

  11. What a nice way to spend the day, visiting with a garden buddy. :) Tina is one creative gal, that showerdoor mosaic is a work of art! Her front garden is looking so lush this late in the season. :)

  12. Good Morning everyone! I see that Tennessee is having some wonderful weather! It is headed our way but still a bit of humidity in the air here today.

Sunita, When the sun shines through the Angel Trumpet, they light up! I actually live 6 hours drive from Tina. When I take that drive home to see my family, I am sometimes lucky to be able to get out to Tiger Gardens which is only about 20 minutes from my parents house...

Tina, Sorry we could not stay longer but with my dads hips, one can only walk around so much and sit so much so we had to pretty much run in and out that day. But I did get a nice Nickel Tour and wonderful it was! Did you like the title I picked for the post? hee hee....

Darla, The mosaics are spectacular and yes, Tina could make money selling them!

Cameron, I try to hook up with Tina every time I am home visiting with family even if just for lunch in town. It is always a bonus to be able fit in a visit to Tiger Gardens. I have 20-Plus family members and also friends so it is difficult to squeeze everyone in during my visits. We so need to move back there...

Vuejardin, The pictures are nice but seeing them in person is soooo much better! They are awesome!

Janet, In person is totally different then in the pictures. Just amazing what Tina has done to an old shower door that would have ended up in a landfill rusting without her help. Trash to Treasure for sure....

Anonymous, You should take little Bundle out on a drive to Tiger Gardens and see them! They are way cool to see with the sun shining on them. Is it too cool to play in the pool yet? I see the temps are great up there right now...

Tina, oops, I should have put that in the post. Oh well...

Gail, Tina's talent never ceases to amaze me! She is always coming up with something new and awesome to the eye. A true gift she has and with her garden knowledge as well. We do have a good time with our visits. We chat up a storm as if we have known each other all our life....

Sweetbay, I wish you could see them in person. They are spectacular to the eye!

Racquel, Walking through a garden with a buddy is the way to go! Just wish we had more time to spend together on that day in the garden. The mosaics’ are indeed a work of art and she could sell them if she wanted to work on some more. Are you listening here Tina? hee hee. Tiger Gardens is lucky as they have had lots of rain this summer to keep things lush..

  14. As always, very nice photos of your time with Tina Skeeter.

Dawn, those are not a quick project for sure but Tina does have one of my traits, good or bad,
that when something pops into our heads, it gets done without putting it away. It can be good at times but a curse at others. It was a big job for sure and she did a great job but I also know you could do it.

  15. What a sweet and good friend you are, Skeeter, to bring the plant to Tina all that way. You are both lucky to have each other. Those mosaics are just amazing, I bet they are even more wonderful in person, like you say too. Tina is so talented!

  16. Uh yeah Skeeter-I had no idea you were posting on your visit at all. I was a bit shocked. It looks good though. It is my intent to begin making hypertufa, mosaics, leaf molds and marker stones to go to the Saturday market and maybe spread out a bit next year. The mosaics will be high end but a one of a kind for sure. Dawn, they do take a long time but so worth it. I've made many including one for Liz. You can make them on ordinary windows-much smaller than the doors. You have to be careful on big pieces of glass since they can flex-hence the frame. They are a focal point in the garden most folks like more than the plants. Go figure!

  17. I love the shower door make over!
Someone gave me an angel trumpet a few years ago. I don't know what was wrong but by the time it would start blooming frost would kill it. It bloomed later than any I've seen in this area.

  18. Great job skeeter. Tina's entry to her home is gorgeous. So inviting.
Love those hibiscus. My brother brought me a cutting but I put it in a pot so it hasn't done anything this yr. but next yr it is going into the ground. I'm anxious to see what color it will be.
The mosaics are something else. She could sell them as they are so pretty.

  19. I wish I could come by to visit Tina! Your front walk really is inviting, so pretty! I love the front porch too. Beautiful hibiscus too!

  20. Thanks for sharing Tina's mosaics with us. She's too modest! And you're right, she could get rich making and selling such lovely creations. But then, part of the fun is doing it for love, not money.

  21. Dawn, you and Tina can start your own business making them! Ah, I can see the crafting fun now....

Jean, I have that trait also. I say it comes from my dad. When I have something on the mind, I dont slow down until I get it accomplished. Sometimes it takes a bit to get me motivated but when I am ready, I take off full steam ahead. Especially with Garden stuff...

Frances, I hate to think of that beautiful plant dying so to Tina it went. I must give my Saint credit for assisting me with it too. He is such a sweetie but he too had a special place in his heart for the turtle and the plant we got for her....

Tina, I still have those windows I picked up at the Rehab store. Hum, you have me mind to working now. Hey, did you get the hibiscus tag in the mail? I sent if off last week or so...

Dot, as usual so many different varietys of plants around. I bet you had a different type that does not bloom until later in the year. Hum, wonder what kind it was???

Lola, as you can see maybe Tina is going to make a few and sell them. Miss Money Bags for sure. hee hee. I wanted to try this hibiscus in the ground but the tag said only hardy to 40 degrees and it does fall below freezing at times here in the winter and I was a bit leary to plant it but did want the thing out of the house for the winter. I dont want any more indoor plants as long as I have cats that eat them! Too much of a struggle to keep them off the thing. Anyway, I hope your hibiscus does well when you plant it...

Catherine, When you are ready for a Road Trip, Tina would surely invite you over for a stroll. :-)Well, okay, a major Road Trip that is...

Weeping sore, you are so right! When we make things with our hands they are more special to ourselves then to others. The love of creating things has no money value, pure joy and love...

  27. Skeeter, I always enjoy seeing someone's garden from another blogger's perspective. I'm not sure I've ever seen Tina's front garden from this view--it's lovely! And I do remember the post where she showed how she created the shower door mosaic; I'd love to see it in person, too. Thanks for sharing all these from your visit!

  29. You're lucky, skeeter, to have been able to meet her garden in person. I love that shower door too.

  30. Now, this is why I do blog. I get ideas. I think I might look for an old shower door to mosaic and put in my garden. That is such neat way to make mosaic art.

  31. Ha, I'm caught up! I'm glad I did, because I really enjoyed all the posts that were written. I tried not to comment on every single one, but think I ended up saying something on most of them. I had to leave one here to say I love the mosaics! Great job, Tina, and Skeeter, super photos!
