Tina's Angel

By SkeeterAs I sit here in my office chair, I gaze out into my Georgia Gardens. I am enjoying the air conditioning as I heal my body from trauma. I was watering my gardens last week when I hit a bee nest. I was attacked by a swarm of bees and stung over a dozen times. I then was working in the yard chipping limbs when I tripped over a railroad tie and fell into a pile of limbs. I also dehydrated later that same day. My body has been through the ringer lately so now I find myself letting her heal from the coolness inside my home. I can still enjoy my gardens from the windows with a birds eye view. Those pesky power lines mess up my view...
But always looking for the positive side of things, the power lines make a great perch for my feathered friends such as this Eastern Bluebird. He eats many insects from my gardens so we like this fella. With my birds-eye view, I can see things are growing nicely such as the Angel Trumpet that Tina passed along to me. To the right is that Angel Planter I showed you a few weeks ago.
Dawn talked about her Angel Trumpet on Monday with her having issues with possible Spider Mites. See also received her Angel from Tina.
No Spider Mites on my Angel as she is doing wonderful with her first summer in my garden. I did not expect her to bloom on her first year but look at that baby blooming for me!
Getting to the ground level, you can see about 5 blooms on her branches. She has given me more blooms which have already fallen to the ground.
Here is a close-up of Miss Myrtle in the background. She is shining bright for me.
This is my first Angel Trumpet so I am learning as I go along with this beauty. When her blooms first start out, they are a creamy yellow color.
Once open, they are a light salmon type color. I just love this color as I have nothing else of this color shade in the garden. I planted this Angel in full sun and she seems to be loving it. Tina is a wonderful gardener to share such beauties with her garden pals. Thank you Tina, You are an angel as well... I just love TINA'S ANGEL, In the Garden...

  1. Hi Skeeter, wow, do stay inside for a bite and get yourself back in order! I loved seeing the garden from on high, even heard some heavenly sounds emanating from those trumpets from sweet Tina. What a beautiful color they are too. :-)

  2. I hope you feel better soon. One of my co-workers got stung by ants, then a bee or wasp on the neck and had no idea she was allergic. She had to be rushed to the hospital and it took several days to recover. I hope yours was not as bad and that you will be back in the garden soon.

  5. Skeeter, a whole load of troubles seem to have been following you around lately! You're doing a wise thing by letting yourself rest.
That myrtle is stunning! What a vivid colour! And those Angel Trumpets are lovely... the other end of the spectrum, but just as beautiful as the Myrtle.
I agree, Tina really is an angel to share her knowledge and plants so liberally with her friends :)

  6. Those Angel blooms really are beautiful! But I also love "Miss Myrtle"--wish we could grow these up North.

Oh my, Skeeter, I hope you rest and recuperate--that many bee stings sounds very painful.

  7. Skeeter - you poor thing! Take care of yourself and rest up and heal up.

Your window views are so nice. It's good you can enjoy the garden while you recuperate.

Your Angel is heavenly and such a lovely color. Mine didn't return this year and I've not replaced her. Angel trumpets are deer resistant, too.

    Take care.

  10. Skeeter,

I'm sorry to hear about the bees! I was stung once last year by something and would hate to see what a dozen would feel like. Your Angel trumpet looks great. Unfortunately the one Tina gave me is in a garden that has been neglected lately which means it just blends in with the weeds. I'll get to it soon!

  11. Awww, you are too nice. You're very welcomed for your angel. She should hang around down there for you. Mine died this year but luckily I had backup cuttings.

I couldn't imagine getting stung that many times. OUCH!!! Terrible bees! I hope you are feeling better before the weekend-have a safe and great one!

  12. Hi Skeeter, I love the trumpet, when you said yellow I thought....it looks pink from the window! I hope mine does as well as yours.
Take it easy with those stings, I've been stung once in my lifetime and that was enough!

  14. Love the trumpets! The last one looks lovely and delicate. Miss Myrtle looks elegant :) I am amazed that you're able to maintain the grass so well. Looks great!
    Hope you're doing well now...

  15. That Angel Trumpet is beautiful! And I love the view of your garden from above. I've taken several pictures of my side garden from a second floor balcony - it's nice to get that perspective. Hope you heal quickly.

  16. Love the window view. I sure hope my angel trumpet does that well.

Those darn ole bees do not like being disturbed so fought back the only way they know how but I know that does not ease the paing from them. That being said, if they are still bothering you, maybe you should go to the doctor. I don't think they should still be bothering you now. Have you tried mud packs or vinegar? Either will help some.

Love the crepe myrtle. We can't grow then here so I'm envious.

  18. Good Morning Everyone! I am finally healing but still a bit sore in the muscles but I had to mow the grass and pull a few weeds yesterday so that slows the healing process. A Gardeners work is never done! lol....

Busy day getting ready for our long 4th of July weekend. So not time to chat.

Jean, I put baking soda to relieve the sting. Worked as I remember being a child but tobacco works best but no smokers in the house. I stopped itching just yesterday so the stings are about healed now. Thank goodness as the itch was driving me nuts!

    Everyone have a wonderful day....

  21. I love the aerial view of your garden or part of it. I think I saw a blue bird sometime back. The first time ever here. They sure are pretty.
I love those angel trumpets but mine hasn't bloomed yet. Either of them. Mine are supposed to be white. Yours look pink in the pic. Oh, Miss Myrtle sure is showing off her dress. Love it.
I sure hope you are feeling better. Those nasty stings are not fun. My system doesn't like them at all. A brush pile, OUCH. Do take all the time to heal & stay cool. We'll be here.

  22. Busy Busy day for me today! Getting everything settled for a wonderful weekend with the Saints family! I will enjoy the "do nothing" time in the car during the trip, lol... Garden is watered and I saw those bees are still in the Monkey Grass! Yikes, they must go elsewhere before my great niece and nephew come to visit later this month. Dont want them little ones getting stung such as me. Ouch....

Everyone have a wonderful weekend and be safe with those fireworks and/or travels....

  23. Wow, you have certainly earned a rest. Heal up quickly and continue to enjoy the lovely garden view. I have some power lines that run through a part of my garden, too. Can't do without them, but I do wish they were buried!

  25. Oh dear Skeeter ~ I hope you are healing nicely in the air conditioning. We really have to take it easy during the summer months, but you got stung by bees first then had the other two things happen.

What a wonderful view from up high and how wonderful to be able to enjoy your gardens that way when it is hot. I think I have that same angel trumpet. I love the color and the flowers are so huge. Your crepe is gorgeous, I've got one in full bloom too and just love it. The rest haven't bloomed yet.

Enjoy your lovely gardens, have a great 4th of July and be well.

  26. You have a stunning garden, Skeeter and I agree that your blooms are "angelic"!

Sorry to hear about the beestings and dehydration. You deserve some time to lean on the windowsill, rest and admire your handiwork!
