A Frolicking Georgia Fall

I hope everyone enjoys that extra hour this morning or did you forget to Fall Back!
Let's get the glue gun out along with some floral crating items and make something!
Stealing this design and idea from the Saints mother, I created this arrangement for our mailbox.

Maybe the arrangement will take the eye up and off the pitiful looking planter below. The drought did not set well with the planter this year. And just look at that pitiful County Right of Way! How sad...

Ah, 40 bales of my beloved Georgia Pine Straw and she looks so much better don't ya think?

Now let's move into the woods a bit from the street and see what we can do with this Fencing, Hay bales and pile of supplies below.

Supplies complete with a homemade ladder compliments of scrap wood and the Saints hammering skills!
First, we shall arrange the hay bales in front of the fencing. My little friends just had to take a seat to try out the softness of the hay. I made a deal with them. As long as they wave to passing cars, they can stay there throughout the Fall season.

Let's add some more from the pile of supplies shall we...

Ah, pumpkins are the perfect fall decor. And just look at the Crows toying with my Scarecrow friends. I think they are all buds now as they have not moved even after several heavy rain falls.
Now we add some colorful flowers to the mix.
Hey, what are you two doing? Okay, go ahead and hang that Fall garland for me in the tree. Now we will step back and take a peek at our little gang in the woods. Ugh, a bit too far don't you think?
Ah, that's better. Now we can see you all having a FROLICKING GEORGIA FALL in the woods when you should be, In the Garden...

  2. I've always cushioned the transition by doing 45 minutes on Sunday and the final 15 on Monday ... that's a joke, granted a bad one ... but it does take my biological clock a couple days or week to adjust completely.

  3. You have been frolicking this fall! Very nice.

The drought in the southeast has surely been hard on us all! Maybe next year will see a return to our usual dry summers! Wouldn't that be wonderful!

    have a good day Skeeter!

  5. My, you have colorful friends! I do love the styles they sport. That orange hat is to die for! I hope that one on the ladder doesn't fall. I guess the folks hanging out over by the fence have quite a few little tales to tell. Do you ever eavesdrop on their conversations?

    Smiles,

We have had a drought here in Ohio also. Sorry to hear that you have been invaded by the dreaded Asian Lady Beetle's also. Thanks for visiting my Blog.

  7. A frolicking fall indeed! I love that arrangement on the mailbox. So welcoming. I bet all your neighbors love the display. And what a difference from the supplies picture to the completed picture. Lots of work that says you are Frolicking in Georgia...Yup, I got the extra hour of sleep. I kind of think it is wasted unless you work though:)

Good morning everyone! Have a great day!

Thanks for visiting, and commenting on my blog.

  9. Good Morning All,
Skeeter that is a very cute artistic display of supplies for the Fall season. You are so talented. It all looks wonderful.

  10. What fun, Skeeter! I'm sure passersby will get a chuckle out of your decorations.
I thought the crows in the first photo were real!

  11. Jan, that is why I put the display up so people will have a little smile on their way home from a hard day at work.

Robert, I think you should reverse that plan and get the extra 45 on Monday rather then Sunday... lol...

Gail, this makes year number 3 for our current drought. argggg. We have lived in GA for 8 years and of the 8, 7 have been drought years and one super wet! We dont even know what is normal here. lol...

PerennialG, thanks, I like the climbing ones also. Last year they were in a red wagon but wanted to help me string garland this year! lol.

Cameron, the ladder was on the ground when we returned from vacation. The 50mph wind we had got to them. We propped it back up and this time I tied it to the tree! Little friends never complained as they were enjoying their ground view too... lol.... I can only imagine the conversations going on at the fence. The crows give me away when I try to sneak up on them. hee hee....

    My little family, Thanks!

Lona, here at In the Garden, there are several of us that post topics. Tina is the Master Gardener and she loves to visit others so she gets the credit for popping in on you.... Thanks for popping in on us this morning...

Tina, We plan to have a second bonfire today. Had one yesterday to rid the yard of the piles of limbs we have been collecting since May. The flower arrangement was pretty easy for me to make since I had a good lesson from the Saints mom last fall when she made me the winter arrangement. I took her design and just added fall flowers instead. The copy cat I am... lol... I enjoyed my extra hour this morning and for once, the cats did not wake us up! Good girls....

Muddy boot dream, It was fun creating this display. I got my inspiration from a Fall visit to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge in TN a few years ago. They have such wonderful displays during the Fall season. And you should see some of the huge pumpkins in the displays. Mine are fake but theirs are real and grown by a local farmer for the town to use...

Lola, I enjoy creating such fun things for others to enjoy. I would like to do this for others and make money but then it would no longer be fun but work so I will just continue to make one for us. I must admit though, I have not seen another display as cute in our area but they sure do know how to make them and put mine to shame in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN...

  14. Rose, The crows do look real dont they? I would not pay the price they wanted for them the first year I had a display but found them at a close out sell just after the fall season so bought the 3 they had left... Have I mentioned my middle name is Cheapskate? lol

  15. Tina, I am studdering today. Where is my little trash can to dump the pile of mess I made???

  16. Hi Skeeter,
You have some really great displays and I agree, it's pretty crafty to get a scarecrow on a ladder, the crows look real from here!
Enjoyed the extra hour of sleep this morning!

  17. oh my. You've been busy!! That is an adorable display. If I saw it, I would slow down or stop to check it out!!

  18. That is absolutely precious!! And so fall! You did a great job.

  19. Dawn, Glad you enjoyed your extra hour this morning. Just think what all we could have gotten done in that hour other then sleeping! lol. It was a challenge to get the fellows up on the ladder but with some wire here and there, all was in place. Love that spool of plastic covered wire from Dollar Tree.... lol....

Kathleen, Some people have stopped to have thier picture taken with it. That is the ultimate compliment from me but I will take yours too... Thanks...

Meadowview, Thanks for the kind words. Makes it all worth the effort and money spent although, not much money spent as I did it all on the cheap! lol

  20. What absolutely gorgeous displays. At first I thought the mailbox was great but then came the other. Oh my, I wish I was as creative as that.

  21. Skeeter, Usually the trashcan is on the comment, but I am not seeing it. Not sure why.

  22. That's a lot of friendly little scarecrows! Of course my jaw dropped a bit when I read 40 bales of pine straw.

  23. You are so creative! I love your fall display. You have a good sense of humor too!
    Shirley Bovshow

  24. Jean, thanks for the compliments! I get inspiration from all around me and seem to have gotten a gene or two from my creative grandmother...

Tina, yeah, where is that little trash can today??? lol... Notice the posting was messed up also. Looked great on the board before posting. Not going to fix it for fear of loosing the entire thing. lol....

Dave, I bet your girls would have fun talking to my straw buddies! I sure do when in the woods with them. lol. Ah, 40 bales of pine straw is nothing for me to spread. I like the look of pine straw and here in GA, it is easy to come by... Great landscaping asset....

Shirley, thanks for the kind words. Without humor, life would be soooo boring for me... :)

All the Halloween stuff on the porch is now packed away and the Thanksgiving items are in place to greet visitors to my home....

I need to dig out a few plants for inside storage and then assist the Saint with his Bonfire. He is probably wondering where I have been hiding as it is work to stoke the fire. Not hiding Saint, just working elsewhere...

  29. What a wonderful fall scene you have created. I love it!
Something about fall always makes me wanna get out my glue gun and do something crafty as well. As a matter of fact I got it out today.

  30. Tyra, Scarecrows are a big thing here in the South and we love to put them in Fall displays. I decided to try my hand at making a display a few years ago and had so much fun with it, that I must continue this tradition each fall...

Gardening with Confidence, I guess I could have worse genes. lol... I like to make people smile so if a little fall display can brighten up a day for someone, then it is a must for me... :)

Cosmo, thank you! I had fun putting them up. The challenge is to come up with a different scene each year. This year the ladder was a new prop and one that may return next year too with so many positive comments about it… The Saint will be proud of his ladder as he made it for me…

Anne, I had so much fun creating the display! I started it after seeing the wonderful displays in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, TN. I had a blast checking out all the neat displays and decided I must have one as well. This started 3 years ago and continues on.... I try to give my display a bit of character as if they are alive. Glad you enjoyed it....

Machelle, I used to do a lot of crafting when I lived in Germany in an apartment. Now that I am in a house with 2.5 acres of land, not as much time to play with the glue gun! What did you make today?

    ReplyDelete
  31. That is GREAT - so you do this every year? I'd like to live in your neighborhood.

  32. That is just a precious display. Looks like something out of a magazine. Maybe you should send it into one..

  34. Skeeter ~ I love your mailbox! That is beautiful. And your friends are lots of fun!

  35. Jgh, I would love for you to buy the house next door and fix up that yard! I will let you know when they put the For Sale sign out! lol... I started making a Fall Display 3 years ago and have done it ever since. I enjoy doing it and as long as no one vandalizes it, I will continue to set one up...

Brenda, I am not so sure it is magazine worthy but thanks for the compliment. That makes me smile tonight! :-)

Marmee, I do enjoy decorating. Wait until you see the house at Christmas time! I go a bit nuts so my hubby says...

Cindy, Thanks, I like my friends too! They make me smile when I return home. They have so much fun in the woods. There is only one downside to putting it up. I must take it down and that always makes me sad as I enjoy them so much...

    ReplyDelete
  36. Tina ~ I loved this! The process, the creativity and final results - I especially like the climber... you must be cheering passersby, as well as fellow bloggers! Thanks for the giggles ~ Deb

  37. LOL...those guys on the ladder are too cute!

I have to know...how do you keep them from getting stolen? Even out here in boonies of WA I think they would get swiped.

    ReplyDelete
  38. That's some clan, and a might cute one too!

  39. Gardenauthor, It is fun for me to create things that will get a giggle from someone. So you made my day with your comment! Thanks...

Indavertent Farmer, I must admit the first year I put up a Fall Display; I was leery of theft or a Redneck shooting it! I would check on it first thing each morning to make sure all was in place. In time, my faith for mankind was confirmed, as no one has bothered any of my displays in the 3 years I have done this. (knock wood) We live in the boonies on a dead end street so that may be the reason but I am sticking with my faith in mankind theory....

TC, they are a fun clan to have playing in the woods! I enjoy making people smile and hopefully, I have made a person or two smile this fall. With the world being in such turmoil, a giggle or smile can be a nice thing....
